Used Oil Filter Management

Like all of our environmental programs, our used oil filter program epitomizes the true spirit of resource recovery and environmental protection. Don’t be fooled by other so-called “recycling” processes that result in all or part of your facility’s filters being applied to the land in some way. The filters leaving your facility may contain trapped oil that could eventually contribute to the contamination of the environment. Vesco will protect you from the clean-up costs associated with this type of contamination by recycling every part of the filter along with the residual wastes that are generated through processing them.

Vesco Oil employs state of the art equipment to collect, handle and process our customers’ used oil filters. Depending on your needs, we can provide your facility with a variety of storage options including fifty-five gallon drums, two drum carts or completely enclosed bins to collect up to six fifty-five gallon drums of filters while only occupying a footprint of three drums. Because of the enclosed nature of the bin, it can be stored outside, protected from the weather much like your trash dumpster. Our custom built bulk filter trailer is then dispatched to pick the filters up. This process makes the handling of filters at your facility clean and efficient.

The filters are processed in a crusher that compresses ten to twelve standard sized filters into a finished product that is the size of a brick. The brick is then placed into an intermediate hopper where the residual oil is drained for several hours. After the oil residue is pumped from the hopper, the product is loaded into a custom built roll-off box. This box has a false bottom designed to allow the product to further drain. This process results in our product being well suited for melting in new steel making facilities. With Vesco, the messy filters that may have gone on the ground are converted into a viable steel product within days of leaving your facility.

While this method of management is more costly than other methods of “recycling”, it will not be compromised at the expense of protecting our customers from long term liability.
